It didn’t take long for Huron County OPP to lay their first impaired operation charge of 2021.

A traffic stop less than 2 hours into the New Year resulted in an arrest of a Morris-Turnberry resident.

Officers were patrolling in Morris-Turnberry when they spotted a vehicle making a wide turn from Moncrieff Road onto London Road.

A traffic stop was initiated and police spoke with the driver.

The investigating officer noted the driver had consumed some alcohol.

A roadside screening test was performed and resulted in a fail.

The driver was taken into custody and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two samples were taken and both tests were found to be over the legal limit.

A 50 year old male resident of Morris-Turnberry was charged with operation while impaired-blood alcohol of 80 plus. He has since been released and will appear at a Goderich Court on March 15th, 2021.
