New recycling carts are being rolled out in Stratford.
Starting January 1st Ontario is switching to a new Extended Producer Responsibility recycling system meaning companies which make or import products will take on full responsibility for collecting, managing and recycling their packaging materials instead of the municipality.
This also means local recycling is moving to a cart based automated collection system using 360 litre wheeled recycling carts.
The contractor, Emterra has already started delivering the carts however these are not meant to be used or placed on the curbside until after December 31st.
