There are new pedestrian crossovers in Stratford. In an effort to increase pedestrian safety, the city installed two new crossovers with one at Waterloo Street and William and McCarthy Road West at Greenwood Drive.

Pedestrians crossing are asked to push the button at the crossovers if available, wait for traffic to stop and make sure the drivers can see you, drivers are asked to yield to pedestrians intending to cross and for cyclists to follow rules for the drivers when riding with traffic and when crossing to follow similar rules for pedestrians.

Those who do not follow the rules of the crossover could face fines of up to $1000 with drivers facing 4 demerit points.
