New self-containing breathing apparatuses are on their way for Wellington North firefighters with council giving approval for funding.
Fire Chief Chris Harrow says the technology for the devices made them much more attractive than the other two options firefighters had.
The new MSA devices have a 15 year life span while also being durable with Harrow adding the only expected repairs should be on the gauges and valves over their lifespan.
