Rhinovirus Outbreak Declared at Stratford General Hospital

 

The Huron-Perth Healthcare Alliance has declared a Rhinovirus outbreak at the Stratford General Hospital.

Rhinovirus is considered the most frequent case of the common cold with symptoms including fever, cough, chest congestion and vomiting.

While most cases are considered mild they can cause severe illness especially with those with weakened immune systems, asthma and other medical conditions.

The outbreak, declared at the Inpatient Unit will now be closed to admissions until further notice.
