The National Advisory Committee on Immunization has updated their recommendations when it comes to the AstraZeneca vaccine.
They now recommend people 30 and older can get the shot if they don’t want ot wait for the alternatives.
This changes from a past recommendation where they advised those under 55 years old to not get the shot out of caution about reports of rare blood clots.
Health Canada released a safety assessment that showed the benefits outweigh the risks, which is what the Advisory Committee also evaluated.
The Province has started administering the vaccine to those over the age of 40 given the current spread of the virus variants.
