Residents are being told to be cautious near watercourses maintained by the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority, specifically around the Nine Mile River.

Showers from late Wednesday into Thursday has recorded between 15-45mm with heavier amounts seen between eastern and northern regions of the watershed.

Snowpack water equivalents were measured earlier this week which showed a range of 30-70mm of water across the watershed.

The rate of runoff and impacts will vary depending on localized rainfall and snowpack conditions but river levels are expected to approach bank-full conditions with flooding in low-lying areas.

Maitland Conservation staff will continue to monitor the situation closely over the next 48 hours.
