A collaborative mural painting is making its way to the Listowel branch of the North Perth Public Library next weekend.

The library is welcoming Roshan James, an Indo-Tibetan interdisciplinary artist who was commissioned to create a mural for the entryway at each branch in North Perth.

While Monkton and Atwood’s were done last year, Listowel’s piece is coming in for community involvement with Roshan inviting everyone out to be part of the final mural.

Hayley Dietz, Coordinator of Digital Initiatives for the North Perth Public Library says they’ll have a full layout set for next Saturday.

“So she has the structure pretty much made. Essentially it’s going to be a whole bunch of tables with a whole bunch of panels. We won’t actually be painting directly on the wall, it’s going to be the panels, there will be a design on it already, the colours will be mixed you come in and add your person and you’ll be part of the mural.” Dietz.

Dietz adds all artistic skills and every age from newborns to seniors, all are welcome to put their touch on the mural.

“No artistic ability is needed. We’re talking if you want to bring your baby and help guide your baby to do it. If you’re a senior, everyone is welcome and we’d like to see varying age and artistic ability come out for it, we would love to see you.”

The collaborative event will take place June 6th starting at 10am at the Listowel Branch running until 3pm.

The public is welcome to drop by at anytime from 10am-3pm to participate.

Opening remarks will start at 10am with Roshan speaking as well as the library board chair.
