The Canadian Red Cross is stepping up to assist newcomers to the area.
The Multicultural Association of Huron Perth has announced the group will receive $80,000 dollars to help with several major projects underway.
That includes an emergency support hot line, and more effective personnel protective equipment.
The money is part of the federal government’s Emergency Community Support Fund.
The hot line is manned by 20 volunteers who are able to converse with newcomers in dozens of languages.
The inquiries have included such topical questions as where people can go to get tested for COVID-19.
The hot line is manned 7 days a week from 7 am to 8 pm. The number to call is 1-888-910-1583.
