Following the end of their 2021-22 season, the Mitchell Hawks announced the team will have a new general manager, and they planned to sign a number of new players for the 2022-23 season.
Since then, the team has announced the signings of four graduates, defenseman Brayden Vosper, and forwards Connor Lockhart, Talbot Geiger, and Dawson Dietz, of the Mitchell U18 (midget) team. These four players had previous experience playing at the junior level.
Another player signed is the son of a former Hawk, Todd McCann’s son Zac. McCann. McCann is a defenseman who played several games this past season as an affiliated player.
Jonathan Tenhag and Hayden Hessel, a 16-year-old who played for the BCH U18 rep team last year, from Huron County have both signed. Tenhag played with the U18 Huron-Perth Lakers last season and was second in scoring for the Lakers.
Last week, the Hawks made a trade, acquiring Andrew Gysbers, a 20-year-old from Port Stanley. Gysbers played for the Port Stanley Sailors, scoring 18 goals and 17 assists for 38 points in 28 games in the 2021-22 season.
