While snow isn’t yet on the ground, Minto council is looking ahead at the coming winter maintenance.

Minto will now be tackling an extra road just outside of Clifford on Wellington County Road 2.

The county is offering to pay the town for the year at $9000 per kilometer with the road being asked to maintain simply being just 1km.

Some questions were raised by council on the extra addition considering its only 1km of road and how they don’t have vehicles on standby in Clifford.

Mike McIsaac, Roads and Drainage Manager says its something as simple as just an extra stretch during regular snow clearing in town.

“We’ll look after it while we’re doing just the town itself, we’re in the town anyway with our equipment. We’ll be adjusting our route so we’re not chasing them down.” said McIsaac.

The County has also agreed to compensate any unforeseen additional costs which could occur due to heavy snowfall or ice storms events outside of regular maintenance operations.
