The Town of Minto is looking at next years budget which currently is projecting a 6.5 per cent tax levy increase.

A budget meeting held earlier this month looked over the operating end of the budget, leaving the capital budget out of the discussion.

Staff is taking feedback collected at their recent meeting and returning back on November 26th to look over the capital budget.

The current look at the operating budget is $6.8 million.

Deputy Mayor Jean Anderson opened up a discussion on the health care crisis who mentioned they should increase the health and services budget.

“I think the only way we can look at that for our community is for us to provide the solution that is proposed across the province by healthcare providers is that there are community clinics that are supported by the municipality as much as it shouldn’t be since that is a provincial responsibility.” said Anderson.

Open houses are also planned to discuss the budget with one on December 3rd going from 5-6pm.
