It is still very much winter with snow continuing to come down across the area and Minto Fire is telling everyone winter fire safety is more than a December reminder.
Snowbanks can pile over outdoor vents and ice can block them off completely and must be checked regularly during the winter.
Chuck Ellison from the Minto Fire Department says this simple check can save lives.
“I’m practicing what I’m preaching and if I didn’t, we might not have had heat and potentially carbon monoxide buildup. A simple walk around the house can save lives.” said Ellison.
