The Town of Minto took time during their meeting to speak on acts of recent vandalism of decorations around the community which were placed by Minto Pride.

Harriston, Clifford and Palmerston has had decorations, including wrapping various poles in the colours of pride.

Vandals had taken down ribbons and decorations around the area in Palmerston.

Minto Mayor George Bridge says the work from volunteers deserved to be recognized to showcase Minto is welcoming.

“Our community volunteers have worked really hard not only to make the downtown look great but to use these decorations which clearly demonstrates to everyone that we are a welcoming and inclusive community.” said Bridge.

Bridge adds the vandalism not align at all with the towns slogan.

“Remember what our slogan is, Where Your Family Belongs. Our vision has always been that the Town of Minto is a friendly, safe, affordable, family oriented rural community built on the foundation of respect, volunteerism and prospered business.”

Bridge was widely supported by his fellow councilors in his statement, adding the actions of a few will not deter the voices of the many to stand up against these acts.
