The Upper Grand District School Board has gotten approval from the Ministry of Education to proceed with a new school in Fergus.
The province first announced the funding for the new school in January to the tune of $8.5 million.
The new school will be on a six acre site next to the park in the Storybrook subdivision.
Education Minister Todd Smith stating in a release he understands the local school is the heart of the community and its important for young families to have a school which is close to home.
