Mark Carney and the Liberal Party have earned a 4th mandate and Carney will hold his spot as Prime Minister in another Liberal minority government.

At 1:45am the Liberals had won 166 out of 343 ridings, good enough for the win while Pierre Poilievre’s Conservatives take enough to maintain the official opposition.

While Poilievre will stay as leader for the party, he did not maintain his riding who lost in Carleton ending his near two decade hold.

In Perth-Wellington John Nater was re-elected earning 33,850 votes or 53.2 per cent support.

Carney while speaking to a crowd in Ottawa early this morning says it was the need for changes which got him into politics.

“I chose to enter politics because I felt we needed big changes in this country. But big changes guided by strong Canadian values.” said Carney.

A stun for the NDP saw them only win seven seats, down from 24 and after losing in his own riding, Jagmeet Singh announced he would be stepping down as leader.
