A senior in Mapleton has lost $250,000 after falling victim to a phishing scam.
It was reported since February last year, an elderly victim had sent the money to someone they had met online.
Over the course of several months the victim was told to purchase gift cards and then give the numbers to the scammer.
The victim then suspected they were being subject to fraud when they then contact police. Wellington County OPP continue to investigate the matter.
