Minto Fire is on the scene of a major structure fire in the Town of Palmerston.
All 3 Minto fire stations have responded with support from Listowel and Harriston Aeriel Trucks. Drayton and Moorefield stations have also responded.
Stations were paged at 9am to a vacant building near downtown Palmerston. There are no reported injuries and no occupants were inside the building.
Some houses have evacuated due to smoke in the area with a warming centre setup at the Palmerston Arena. Updates will be provided as they are available.
UPDATE (from Minto Fire Department Social Media) at 2pm:
“#Palmerston Structure Fire is officially out, an excavator is on scene currently knocking the structure down. Roads in the area are still closed. We should wrap up in a couple of hours.”
