Lottery Ticket Win Turns Into Charges Against Employees

An employee stealing a lottery ticket which turned into a $50,000 win quickly resulted in charged against the employee.

On December 23rd of last year members of the OPP IEB alongside the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario received information from the OLG over a suspicious lottery ticket win at a retailer in Mitchell.

It was alleged a winning ticket was stolen by a store employee with the $50,000 prize claimed by another employee.

As result police have charged a 44 year old Mitchell with Fraud Over $5000, Theft Over $5000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000.

A 51 year old of Stratford has also been charged with Fraud Over $5000 and Possession of Stolen Property of $5000.

Both will appear in Stratford court at a later date.
