A familiar face at the Listowel Curling Club is calling it a career at the establishment.

Howie Pruden has spent the last over 40 years around the facility having joined as a teenager newly relocated from Manitoba.

He moved around a lot in his childhood due to his fathers job.

Upon arriving in Listowel he joined the curling club to meet people and spent the last 37 years as the Manager and the Treasurer.

He works at Ideal Supply and has spent over 42 years there.

He views the commitment to the Listowel Curling Club as part of giving back to the community that has given him so much.

“I do have a philosophy on that and it’s been since I was a kid. Someone has to help. We all have to step up and so you lead by example. If I feel passionate about having to give back more than you get then you have to step up and do that.”

Pruden still takes part in the mens league on Monday nights and the competitive nights on Tuesday.

He also coaches hockey and holds his job at Ideal.
