With the return of hunting season in some areas locally and it looming elsewhere, OPP are reminding hunters to not leave their firearms inside their vehicles for extended periods of time to avoid theft.
OPP regularly during this time respond to calls where firearms were stolen after being left inside a vehicle overnight.
Police add even if you’re weapon is out of sight there could be other valuables seen that might draw someone in and then find your hidden firearm on top of other valuables.
OPP say to make sure to always lock your vehicle, never leave valuables such as a wallet, purse or packages in full view and to never leave your vehicle keys hidden in or around your vehicle.
