Doug Ford will hold onto power as Premier of Ontario as the PC government takes the win in the provincial election.

The conservatives were able to be elected in 83 riding’s, seven more than in the previous election.

“Thank you for your trust and thank you for once again, putting your confidence in me. It’s a responsibility I will never take lightly. But most importantly thank you for sharing in a vision for your great province” said Ford.

Locally, the conservatives managed to continue to keep the region blue with Matthew Rae for Perth-Wellington, Lisa Thompson for Huron-Bruce and Rick Byers for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound each taking wins in their riding.

The NDP have formed the official opposition but also after failing to form government in her fourth election cycle, leader Andrea Horwath announced she would be stepping down.

Liberal Steven Del Duca who couldn’t win the riding of Vaughan-Woodbridge also resigned as leader.

Green’s Mike Schreiner won in Guelph again, earning just over 54% of the vote.
