Perth-Wellington MPP Matt Rae has announced the provincial government is investing $55,000 to help local law enforcement expand video surveillance systems to better protect the community.

Funding has been given through the Ontario Closed Circuit Television Grant Program (CCTV)

Outdated equipment will be replaced with enhanced current technology and install new or additional cameras in areas where criminal activity are most common.

In a release, Rae says having the most up to date equipment will better protect and serve the community.

Launched in August 2020, the Ontario CCTV Grant Program is part of Ontario’s Guns, Gangs and Violence Reduction Strategy and represents a $6 million investment across the province over three fiscal years from 2020-2023.

North Perth OPP will see $15,000 in CCTV funding with OPP West and Stratford Police each receiving $20,000.
