Work on the removal of the Listowel Memorial Park dam was underway last week.

The process of the removing the dam has seen many years of work and chatter. Work is nearly done to help in rehabilitating the stretch of the Maitland River which flows throughout the town.

The roots of the dam go back to 1903 when council first purchased land to build a dam and recreational pond to allow residents to canoe and swim.

In 2013, the Municipality of North Perth went ahead to remove dam boards and establish the Memorial Park Rehabilitation of the Maitland River and Memorial Park.
