The Kinsmen Club of Listowel has received $130,800 in the Resilient Communities Fund from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

MPP Matthew Rae was joined by the Kinsmen and Tonya Havercamp with the Ontario Trillium Foundation earlier this afternoon to celebrate the grant.

“Local service clubs, such as the Kinsmen Club of Listowel, are the bedrock of our rural communities,” said Matthew Rae, MPP for Perth-Wellington. “The Kin Station has provided a reliable space for many local events and meetings throughout the years. This is a great investment that recognizes the location’s importance to our community. I am glad to see our provincial government support our local service clubs.”

The money was used to modernize the interior of the century old train station used by the Club dubbed “The Kin Station.”

Listowel Kinsmen President Ben Zavitz says this boost will allow the club to continue have a historic building operating in town

“The fact we can keep this historic building operating and efficiently run is amazing”

New architectural millwork in the hall, new doors and windows, paving the parking lot and many other projects were used from the grant.

The Kin Station has acted as the main hub for the Listowel Kinsmen being used for meetings and a variety of local events over the years.
