To help raise more awareness for kidney disease, Amanda Lynn Hoover alongside Kidney Walk is organizing a walk come September in Stratford.
In January 2023, Amanda’s boyfriend Andy Bowman spent two weeks in the Grand River Hospital with kidney issues where he was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease.
CKD has resulted in Andy doing dialysis and is in need of a kidney transplant.
Like many across the country and even locally Andy is on Home Hemo Dialysis while he is on the waiting list for a new kidney.
The waiting list for a new kidney however does have a lineup with Amanda saying Andy could be 5-6 years out before he can get a new kidney.
Amanda is response has started a fundraiser and a planned walk in Stratford.
While still in the early stages, Amanda says they’ve received much support.
“We just started sharing on Facebook and we were able to raise $1000 in the first 3 days which was nice. We’ve upped our a goal a little bit since then” said Hoover.
Those who want to take part in the walk on September 21st and join the team now and start fundraising.
A current goal has been set for $10,000.
