Jordan Hawthrone Among Strong Performers at World Dairy Expo

Hawthrone finished 5th in the senior male category in the youth fitting competition.

 

It was a successful World Dairy Expo for Canadian breeds and locally.

The expo held in Madison, Wisconsin saw breeds from Ontario score high amongst the competition.

Jordan Hawthrone of Listowel was among 2 other Ontarions who finished top 10 in youth showmanship classes. Hawthrone finished 7th with Emma Finch of Utopia in 4th annd Megan Ford of Thornbury in 5th.

Hawthrone also finished 5th in the senior male category in the youth fitting competition.

Two Ontario breeds led the pack at the International Jersey Show by American owners.

Vierra Dair Farms of Hilmar, California took home the 2nd consecutive grand champion ribbon when Bri-Lin Valson Spritz, bred by Brian and Linda Raymer of Bright, Ontario went from winning the mature cow and senior champion female to be named grand.

Four year old cow Rexlea, Joel Karausel bred by John and Larry Sheardown of Schomberg, Ontario claimed the reserve senior female champion. Ontario’s Brianne and Chris Brown bred and sold the winning winter calf earlier this year.

280 participated in the competition.
