A member of the Wingham community is looking to bring together a group of residents to becoming a committee to organize a 2024 Wingham Homecoming.

Joe Carter and his wife Heidi have organized a meeting on March 30th in the upstairs of the Wingham Legion to allow the community to come together to discuss ideas for a possible event.

The direction for homecoming 2024 hit a wall when earlier this year a Facebook post from the homecoming page said there would be no future planning for the event.

North Huron’s Clerk says the result came from members of the committee resigning from their positions.

Carter is a member of the Lucknow Kinsmen and he believes the type of success that group sees with Music in the Fields can make its way to Wingham.

“If you get hundreds of volunteers to come out every year to put on a festival of 65,000 people. We should be able to put together a wonderful committee for a Wingham Homecoming” said Carter.

The meeting will also be available via zoom on March 30th beginning at 7pm.
