With this week marking Remembrance Day, November 8th marks Indigenous Veterans Day.

First Nations, Inuit and Metis of Canada have a long and proud line of military service to Canada with more than 4000 Indigenous people serving in uniform during the first World War.

Many answered the call during the Second World War which saw over 3000 First Nations members serve and an unknown number of Metis, Inuit and other Indigenous serving.

Veterans stories are posted online such as Noel Knockwood, a residential school survivor who enlisted during the Korean War.
