A 22 year old of Central Huron is facing a half dozen charges following a series of events that took place late last night and early this morning.
At approximately 12:23 am on April 9th a Huron County OPP officer was patrolling London Road south of Londesboro when he noticed a heavily damaged vehicle had rolled over in the ditch.
A check on the vehicle revealed the occupants had left the scene.
Shortly thereafter police conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle that was in the vicinity of the crash scene were determined to be Good Samaritans that had picked up the driver of the crashed car.
While speaking with the driver of the crashed vehicle the suspect suddenly bolted from the officer and fled on foot. Follow a short foot pursuit the accused was taken into custody.
While speaking with the driver police noted the accused had consumed some alcohol and displayed signs of impairment.
The accused later provided 2 samples of breath to a qualified intoxilizer technician and both samples registered above the legal limit.
The accused was lodged at the Huron Detachment and while in custody the accused caused damage to the holding cell.
As a result a 22 year old female from Central Huron has been charged with:
- operation while impaired
- operation while impaired concentration of 90 plus
- failure to stop at accident
- failure to comply with a release order
- failure to comply with undertaking
- mischief under $5000
The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for April 14th.
