Huron Perth Public Health offers snapshot of state of Covid-19 in the Region

Huron Perth is averaging as the lowest incidence and percentage of positive in Southwest Ontario

 

Huron Perth Public Health held a media update where they gave the latest snapshot of how the Region, and Southwestern Ontario as a larger area are doing.

1 Person is currently admitted to hospital with Covid-19. There are 12 cases active of the Variants of Concern.

1 workplace is currently in outbreak in the Region. (Name or location not provided)

91 percent of residents 80 years and older have at least received their first dose of vaccine.

With the announcement of the Educator eligibility to be vaccinated the immediate task for Public Health is for those educators who work directly to support students with special needs to get them vaccinated.

The effort will expand to the larger educator population in the future. No date was given.

In terms of the incidence rate (weekly new cases per 100,000 of population) Huron Perth is the lowest at 19.3%, compared to the next highest in Grey Bruce at 35.3% and then Chatham Kent at 51.7%).

The percentage of positivity in terms of testing on a 7 day average again has Huron Perth at the lowest number at 1.27%, followed by Chatham Kent at 2.38% and then Lambton at 2.39%.

ICU occupancy has Chatham Kent at the lowest at 55%, followed by Huron Perth at 60% and then Waterloo Region at 65%.

Accute occupancy has Huron Perth at the lowest percentage at 68% followed by Southwestern Public Health at 74%.
