Huron Perth Public Health released the latest Covid 19 numbers Friday and it shows 9 news cases. There are 3 in North Perth, 1 in Perth East, 1 in West Perth and 4 in Stratford. The majority of new cases are close contacts of previously confirmed cases. There are now a total of 52 active cases of Covid 19 in the region.
There are 5 people in hospital (not realted to the Cedarcroft outbreak). The Medicine Unit at Stratford Hospital is still in Outbreak following 2 staff members being identified Thursday as having Covid 19. Outbreak control measures are in place and HPPH is working with them to help control the outbreak.
Knollcrest Lodge outbreak was declared over on Thursday. Sprice Lodge remains in outbreak after an asymptomatic staff member tested positive during routine testing. The Cedarcroft outbreak is coming under control. 47 residents and 23 staff contracted Covid 19 at the facility to date. There are 4 residents still in hospital and 2 active staff cases. Of the Cedarcroft residents that were moved from the home to local hospitals 5 have since tested positive. 1 in Woodstock hospital and 4 in Stratford General.
The following schools remain in outbreak; Northside Christian School in North Perth. The school remains closed. St. Mary’s Catholic School in Listowel has 5 cases with those cohorts dismissed and the school open. HPPH is working with the school and the school boards and will contact anyone considered a high-risk/close contact to a confirmed case with further direction.
