Huron Perth adds additional ICU beds to help Province-wide need

Region usually has 6 ICU beds, expanded to 10 with plans for 3 more for 13 total

Huron Perth Public Health held a media update today.

There are currently 27 cases active including 7 presumed variants of concern.

No additional deaths have been reported.

There is only 1 Huron Perth resident in hospital due to Covid-19.

There are no outbreaks reported in long term care, retirement homes or schools. There is 1 workplace outbreak active.

The ICU capacity in the Region is at 110% due to additional ICU beds being opened above their usual complement

(6 ICU beds normally, currently sits at 10 with plans to open an additional 3)

Right now they have 4 Covid ICU patients and 5 Covid medical ID unit patients)

Huron Perth’s cases per 100,000 sits at 21.5 as of this week. Positivity rate sits at 1.09%

As of April 25th there has been 39,440 vaccines being administered.

24.5% of all Huron Perth residents have received at least 1 dose

3% of Huron Perth have received both doses (Province sits at 2.4%)

Adults over 60 are eligible for vaccination through HPPH clinics

Individuals aged 16 and over with certain high-risk conditions

One primary essential caregiver for an individual with certain high-risk or high risk health conditions

The spouse is only considered essential if they provide regular and sustained assistance with personal care/or activities of daily living to a pregnant individual. Situations such as pregnant women put on bedrest by a doctor.

Residents aged 40 and over are eligible to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine at select pharmacies.

The first vaccine you are able to receive is the best for you. All are safe.

HPPH has been administering Pfizer at community vaccination clinics. A small amount of Moderna we’ve received to date has been provided by Primary Care Providers.

Moving forward some HPPH clinics will also be providing Moderna. Type offered is based on supply.
