Huron County OPP are pleading with vehicle owners to lock their vehicles and remove the ignition key to help reduce thefts.
On a year to date to look the number of stolen vehicles in Huron County has seen 50 vehicles stolen this year.
This number is up from the 41 from the same time last year, a rise of 22%.
OPP say the issue isn’t just affecting in Huron but also impacts neighbouring county’s such as Perth, Wellington, Grey-Bruce and South Bruce.
Among the five detachments, 207 vehicles have been stolen this year, a rise from 147 from last year.
The majority of these thefts have reported to be crimes of opportunity, vehicles which are left unlocked.
