Perth County OPP received a report of a break and enter at a home on St. George Street in Mitchell just after midnight on November 19th. The suspect had entered the residence and stole tools, medications, collectables, electronics and bank cards. The suspect had also stolen the home owners vehicle from the driveway.
The vehicle was later recovered in Huron County but the other property was not located. Through an investigation police were able to identify suspects.
On November 23rd just after 10pm police were called to a suspicious person in a vehicle on Barber Avenue North in Listowel. Police attended the home and located a wanted person who was in possession of a stolen vehicle from the Hamilton area. The same vehicle had failed to stop for police a few hours earlier in Howick Township and was seen fleeing towards North Perth.
A 26 year old male of Huron East has been arrested and charged with 3 counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, possession of a stolen credit card, 2 counts of operation of a vehicle while prohibited, 2 counts of failure to comply with a release order, 6 counts of failure to comply with a probation order and taking a motor vehicle without consent.
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
