The County of Huron and the Canadian Mental Health Association Huron Perth Addiction & Mental Health Services have entered into a service agreement for a third consecutive year to operate an emergency out of the cold shelter for the 2023/24 winter season.

This year the shelter is moving away from the overnight congregate model towards a motel model.

County Warden Glen McNeil says the model not only provides a robust network of support & services, but also affords a level of privacy, space and dignity that may not always be possible in a congregate setting.

The shelter runs from November to April and is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week with on-site support Monday to Friday 8:30 to 8 and 24 hour on-call support.
