Huron Perth Public Health Medical Officer of Health issued a class order this morning under section 22 of Ontario’s Health Protection and Promotion Act.

The legal measure authorizes the health unit to enforce compliance with public health instructions.

It is meant to enforce people who have been told to self-isolate or quarantine by public health or a health care provider.

Those that do not comply can be fined $750 per day.

The maximums under the act are charges and fines up to $5000 per day under the act.

The order came into effect as 12:01 this morning and applies to all residents in Huron and Perth.

It can be enforced by public health inspectors and provincial offence officers such as police or by-law officers.
