Bio Life is recalling all Daily Shield hand sanitizers from retailers across Canada effective immediately. Health Canada has determined that the sanitizer labelled with NPN 90098979, Lot 6942, Expiry May 2023 is not a counterfeit product as initially announced on October 18th, based on new information provided by the company to Health Canada.
Testing of the product confirmed the presence of methanol, which is not authorized for use in hand sanitizer and can cause serious health issues including dermatitis, eye irritation, upper respiratory system irritation and headaches. If taken internally, it can cause severe, even deadly adverse reactions.
