The Grey Bruce Health Unit is holding events in early in November to mark Fall Prevention Month, which they say are the leading cause of unintentional injury across the region.
Local hospitals report about 8,100 emergency department visits and over 800 hospitalizations are due to falls annually.
To alert residents of the serious consequences falls can have, especially for older residents, the Health Unit will be holding an information session in Walkerton on Nov. 2.
The free event will run from 9 to noon and cover how to prevent injuries from falls, home and community safety and more.
Though the events are free, attendees are asked to register by calling 519-376-9420 ext. 1410.
Refreshments will be provided.
