Centre Wellington is in mourning with the loss of Jim Gibbons, a former councilor, Deputy Reeve and Mayor of Fergus.
Jim was a true community leader and known for his commitment to improving the lives of those around him.
Jim played a role in initiatives such as the construction of the Groves Community Hospital both old and new, the Grove Hub, Cataract Trail and Grand River Conservation Authority.
Mayor Shawn Watters says Jim was a force to be reckoned with both in the council chamber in the community.
Jim was also a successful business owner, operating Fergus Canadian Tire on St Andrew Street and involved with the Rotary Club of Fergus-Elora.
In honour of Jim Gibbons, township flags will be flown at half-mast.
