The Stratford General Hospital Foundation’s In Our Hands Capital Campaign has received a boost of $10,000.
The donation coming from the Fischer family following Dustie Fischer Allen’s treatment of stage 3 rectal cancer.
At the time Dustie was 44 years old and a mother of two who underwent 25 radiation sessions in London followed by six months of chemotherapy.
Dustie who says she was thankful to undergo chemotherapy at the Stratford hospital and allowed her to be close to family but adds the chemotherapy unit felt like stepping back in time.
The $10,000 donation will be put towards the purchase of a Chair Bay for the new Cancer & Medical Care Clinic.
Dustie says its their way of offering some comfort to those facing the same challenges and helping them feel supported and cared for during their treatments.
