Stats show calls are up in Wellington North for fire services.
Collection over the past two years has shown the number of calls for fire crews increased year over year in 2022.
Chris Harrow, Director of Fire Services says the increase in volume could be factored in with the delays for ambulances as fire crews will often be dispatched at times when paramedics will be delayed by more than 20 minutes.
Delays from ambulances has been an increasing issue across Wellington County with a number of code reds being issued when there are no ambulances available due to crews being tied up to offload patients with 50 by the end of October last year.
