FIO Automotive is Stratford’s first Living Wage Manufacturer

Living wage calculated annually taking in to account average expense of working family of 4

The United Perth-Huron through their Social Research and Planning Council announced today Stratford’s first Living Wage Certified Manufacturer.

FIO Automotive Canada is the first large-scale manufacturer to be certified as a living wage employer in the Champion category.

The Living Wage certification is calculated annually by the United Way’s Social Research and Planning Council. It is a calculation based on living expenses of a typic family of four with both adults working full time for 35 hours per week, once government transfers and deductions taken into account.

Everyday expenses in the calculation include food, housing, utilities, childcare and transportation.

Perth-Huron’s Living Wage is currently $17.55 per hour.
