Fergus’ Jake Roberts has been named as a finalist for the Future Star Award from the O’Brien Awards Nominating Committee.
The committee at Standardbred Canada picked five candidates for the award which included Roberts after a massive year for Roberts who captured his 100th win and a winnings exceeding $1 million.
Roberts says while he is a finalist, it’s his team which has made this year such a success.
“I’m happy for all my employees who throughout the last 4 years, especially this year between racing sometimes 8 or 9 at Hanover and some of my owners being able to be part of the team full time and racing day in and day out and shipping home from the track when need be or shipping to the track. It’s nice to have a good team behind you and I can’t take all the credit for that.” said Roberts.
The three finalists for the Future Star Award will be made Friday.
