You should see a little boost in your tax return.
The federal government is dishing out more $200 million to Canadian families in Ontario, Manitoba and New Brunswick through their income tax. This is due to the feds underestimating how much money it was going to collect from the carbon tax in the first year it was introduced.
All revenue from the carbon price are to return to the provinces in which they were raised.
Families will be able to claim 90% of that money through rebates on their income taxes.
