Fall hydrant flushing will begin next week in Stratford.
Running for several weeks this work is done in the city twice a year typically in the spring and fall to remove iron which may have settled in watermains and as preventative maintenance on fire hydrants.
During this work residents might notice discoloured water but water quality will not be affected.
Residents are asked if they see this to run cold water for 10-15 minutes until it clears.
Hydrant flushing is not on a fixed schedule and changes depending on factors such as weather, staff availability and time it takes to clear the hydrants in a neighbourhood.
