A project on three hour enforced parking in downtown Elora and Fergus has seen its results.
The pilot project which is intended to increase the turnover and availability of downtown parking spaces was started in May and end October 31st but due to the pandemic started in June.
From June to August 15th a total of 393 warnings were issued. In July, officers began to give out tickets with a total of 503 up to August 15th with the most common offense being overtime parking with 169 tickets issued.
Other infractions included parking in a no parking zone and parking too close to intersections or driveways.
Various parking conclusions are being reached by township staff such as increased fines, paid parking and improved signage of parking spaces.
Staff will bring data forward at both Fergus and Elora BIA meetings in the near future.
