The 2020 Farm and Food Care Ontario Champion Award has been given to Dylan Sher, producer of the food documentary Before the Plate.
The graduate of the University of Guelph Agriculture Business studies, produced the documentary breaking down just where exactly your food is coming from locally. Sher wanted to help shine a light to keep everyone informed of the local goods right in their backyard.
The documentary first came out in 2019 and went on to become a regular staple of instruction for elementary school classrooms and in universities.
The Champion Award has been handed out since 1999 to recognize a group or individual commitment to outreach and support for Ontarios farm community. The award is typically given out during the Farm and Food Care Annual Meeting held in April but was postponed this year due to COVID-19
