As the province is set to ease capacity limits and proof of vaccination requirements next week, the response from local medical officers of health seem to be in agreement with provincial decisions.
Dr. Nicola Mercer with Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph public health says COVID-19 will remain in the area but given the vaccination rate and reduction in hospitalizations the time is right to return to normal.
While the mask mandate could be lifted by mid-March Dr. Mercer also agreed she would consider lifting the local mandate when the province does.
Mercer brought in a mask mandate before it become a provincial requirement in 2020.
