While speaking during a briefing, Huron-Perth Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Miriam Klassen said she hopes the lockdown will help curb the spread of COVID-19 in the community.
Dr. Klassen believes one of the biggest reasons for this call to lockdown is due to hospital capacity, which the Ontario Hospital Alliance had said was a major issue earlier this month.
Klassen said while news is looking good on the vaccine front we are still a long way away to achieving widespread immunity. She added the numbers continue to rise, what has been put in place isn’t working so she agrees additional measures had to be taken.
